Chicken in Red Wine

The “coq au vin” is a classic French dish. Made with our local roosters, it creates the perfect recipe.

Ingredients

  • 2 kg chicken pieces
  • 6 small onions
  • 6 cloves of garlic
  • 4 cups red wine
  • 2 ½ cups water
  • ½ cup flour
  • 300g fresh mushrooms
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

Here are the instructions to do Chicken in Red Wine

  • Step 01: Combine flour, salt, and pepper in a paper bag.
  • Step 02: Add chicken pieces and shake until evenly coated with flour.
  • Step 03: Gently fry the chicken until golden brown, then transfer to a pot.
  • Step 04: Sauté onions and garlic in the remaining oil over low heat until fragrant, then pour over the chicken.
  • Step 05: Pour in wine, water, and add bay leaves. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Step 06: Serve with rice or potatoes.

* Pro tip: Sauté mushrooms separately with a little oil and add to the mixture.
